Vegas Undercard – Martinez Vs Salido II, Vanes Vs Smith – Preview and Predictions

In an action packed weekend of boxing we go to over to Vegas and Boxnation after the UK boxing on Sky Sports, and to compliment Mayweather’s last fight there is a pretty decent undercard, featuring are very own George Groves against Badou Jack for the WBC World Super Middleweight Title (Groves Vs Jack prediction Here)

Also on the undercard are two other very good match ups, Roman Martinez will rematch Orlando Salido for the WBO super featherweight title, while Vanes Martirosyan will fight former IBF light middleweight champion Ishe Smith.

Roman Martinez Vs Orlando Salido II

These two met earlier this year in April, Puerto Rico, In an enthralling encounter Roman Martinez came out victorious after scoring two knockdowns and having the benefit of a point deduction, but the fight was close and without the knockdowns and point deduction you could have argued Salido’s case.

The fight was a war of attrition with both men laying it all on the line, if the two men can repeat the war they created in Puerto Rico it will be a great spectacle for the fans. Martinez’s better boxing ability saw him through the last contest but Salido as always was relentless in his pressure.

Puerto Rican Martinez will no longer have the benefit of home comforts which may be of benefit to Salido as the crowd were wild in Puerto Rico back in April, lifting their man Martinez at every opportunity.

I think we will see a similar fight, Salido only knows one way to fight and that is coming forward and going to war, so I expect him to apply relentless pressure yet again.

Being away from Puerto Rico and on a more neutral platform I am giving Salido a good chance here to reverse the result. Salido is the underdog at 7/4 but I will making my play at bet365, if you didn’t know already outright plays at bet365 are a void in the event of a draw, so we are covered if this did end in a draw, which is not impossible.

BETTING TIP: £20 on Salido to win 7/4 Bet365

Vanes Martirosyan Vs Ishe Smith

Vanes Martirosyan will take on Las Vegas native Ishe Smith in a good solid fight, Smith became the first and only Las Vegas native to win a world title when he defeated Cornelius Bundrage for the IBF light middleweight title in 2013.

Smith has his limitations but is a tough fighter with a solid chin, Martirosyan is a very underrated fighter with underrated pop, this will be an intriguing match up but a favour Martirosyan in this fight considerably.

There is actually a bet that is perhaps controversial that I like in this one, Martirosyan is 8/1 to stop Smith, no one is expecting it to happen given no one has managed to stop Smith in a 34 fight career and he has been in with some bigger punches.

As said I see Martirosyan as a vastly underrated fighter and I can see him dominating Smith, the stoppage is a value play, a Martirosyan points win is more likely but at 8/1 I think the stoppage is worth a shot.

BETTING TIP: £10 on Martirosyan by KO/TKO 8/1 Bet365
