Tony Bellew Vs Julio Cesar Dos Santos – Preview, prediction and betting recommendation

Tony Bellew Vs Julio Cesar Dos Santos

Preview, prediction and betting recommendation

Tony Bellew continues his journey at cruiserweight on a collusion course with Nathan Cleverly, and as the last time the two rivals headlined a show it’s Bellew who has the tougher test against Brazilian Dos Santos.

Dos Santos while he is fighting outside his native Brazil for the first time and his record is littered with very modest opposition he looks very heavy handed to me and his 82% knockout ratio certainly suggests he can bang.

He has 2 losses on his record both when he has stepped up to domestic title level otherwise he has 23 whacks from 26 wins and has never been stopped so far in his career.

While the bookmakers suggest this is a formality with Bellew at 1/12 I actually think this is a dangerous fight, Dos Santos while he is raw and unrefined from a technical stand point he comes forward and from a high guard throws heavy hands, particularly heavy body shots.

Bellew does not want to get himself into a brawl with this guy he needs to stay switched on box and keep the fight long, if he does that he will win this fight no problem if he gets himself into a brawl I can actually see an unpleasant situation occurring.

Bellew has the tools on Dos Santos he just needs to make sure he utilises them then I can see a shut out type performance from Bellew.

The bookmakers favour a Bellew KO/TKO in this one which can be had at a best price of 5/6 but while that’s a real possibility considering this is a big step up for Dos Santos I actually favour the fight to go the full 12.

Bellew will need to keep the fight long and not take too many risks but if Bellew’s last fight is anything to go by there may be a hairy moment in there somewhere and I just think there is value in this one going the distance considering the type of fight and game plan Bellew needs to go in there with.

Bellew can be had at 5/2 to get a unanimous decision in the final judgement market at Ladbrokes and I think that is a decent price but beware if he wins by split or majority the bets a loss.

I am going to play Bellew by unanimous decision at 5/2 with a straddle on Dos Santos outright at big odds of 8/1 I think its a straddle that could prove profitable.

Boxing Tipster’s Bets: £20 on Tony Bellew by Unanimous decision 5/2 Ladbrokes, £10 on Dos Santos 8/1 Bwin
