Terence Crawford Vs Dierry Jean – Preview and Prediction

Terence Crawford will look to continue his journey to superstar status this weekend, the 2014 fighter of the year is already a two division world champion and following a break out year in 2014 the unbeaten talent is getting the exposure he deserves.

Crawford has all the attributes needed to become a elite champion, he is a smart fighter with technical class and enough power to end fights, in 2014 he beat 4 solid opponents in Ricky Burns, Raymundo Beltran, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Thomas Dulorme, the ease in which he won all 4 of those bouts was exceptional.

He will face tough Haitian Dierry Jean who fights out of Montreal, Jean is a rugged opponent with prime physical attributes, he will be well conditioned as per usual and will need to use those elements to make this one a brawl if he has any chance of winning.

Jean showed some decent pop at lightweight but will be making a step up to super lightweight for this, and in terms of the quality of opposition Jean has faced to date, it falls far short of the level of Crawford’s resume.

The only real world level opponent on Jeans record is Lamont Peterson, who he lost to by a clear unanimous decision, Jean will need to show us new tricks if he is to beat Crawford this weekend.

This is a fight I simply can not see Crawford losing, the question for me is will he win by decision or knockout, the books say 8/11 for a Crawford KO/TKO and 7/4 for a Crawford decision.

That makes my decision easy because for me the value clearly sits with a Crawford decision, Jean is rugged competitor that is likely to take some rounds to get rid of. I won’t be surprised to see Crawford get a late stoppage but I think a unanimous decision is just as likely.
