JOHN RYDER VS NICK BLACKWELL

A real competitive domestic match up this one, John Ryder and Nick Blackwell are both flirting around the British to European level and will face off for the vacant British middleweight title.

In his last performance John Ryder failed to impress until he scored a sudden late stoppage against Argentinian Facundo Godoy, while Ryder showed he clearly has the advantage in punching power in this bout he was sluggish and will need to sharpen up against Blackwell.

Blackwell had a fairly active 2014 and handled Sergey Khomitsky well in a 6 rounder which was scored a majority draw, as Adam Etches and Frank Buglioni will both know, Khomitsky is deceptively dangerous and very underrated.

Ryder has the power and is a big middlewight but Blackwell brings a real busy work ethic and I could see him out outworking Ryder in rounds.

Both gave Billy Joe Saunders close fights and they are probably evenly matched themselves, its a tough pick this one but I will probably edge for Nick Blackwell to scratch out a very close decision win. I would certainly cover the draw on this one.

PREDICTION – BLACKWELL MD

BETTING TIP – £20 on Blackwell by decision 9/4 Ladbrokes, £5 on the draw 20/1 Ladbrokes.

John-Wayne-Hibbert

JOHN WAYNE HIBBERT VS DAVE RYAN

Another great domestic dust up will see a rematch between Dave Ryan and John Wayne Hibbert, in 2013 Ryan won a close encounter 97-95 and Hibbert will be looking for revenge.

Both fighters impressed in their last outings, Hibbert dismantled a game Tyler Goodjohn while Ryan won the commonwealth belt against Tyrone Nurse in a close encounter.

I expect this to be another close bout but I think Hibbert has improved since 2013 and there was an air of class about him in his last fight with Goodjohn, I am expecting him to reverse the 2013 result and 4/5 looks good odds for him to do so. It could be another close one so cover the draw also.

PREDICTION – HIBBERT UD

BETTING TIP – £25 on Hibbert to win 4/5 Bwin, £5 on the draw 22/1 Sky Bet

Scotty-Cardle

SCOTT CARDLE VS CRAIG EVANS

This is an intriguing match up between two fighters with good amateur pedigree, interestingly Evans used to campaign at super featherweight as an amateur whereas Cardle was a welterweight. They will meet at lightweight for the British title as professionals.

This is a significant step up for Evans as a professional, his record is 14-0-0 but is quite soft, its Cardle who has proven himself against the better opposition to date boasting a record of 17-0-0.

Both are good counter punchers and I can see this being quite a tactical fight in the early going, this could be a close fight but I think Cardle is possibly a touch above Evans at this stage and I fancy him to win.

I fancy Cardle on points but there really isn’t any value in it, therefore I am going to have a small play on him getting the KO/TKO which is 13/5 down at Bet365.

PREDICTION – CARDLE UD

BETTING TIP – £10 on Cardle by KO/TKO 13/5 Bet365
