Shawn Porter Vs Paulie Malignaggi

Porter makes his first defence of his IBF welterweight title, won last year against Devon Alexander in December, Porter is a young and physically strong presence, he throws high volume and somewhat roughed up Alexander to become a world champion in a well deserved win. His tactics were spot on that night.

Malignaggi is highly experienced having fought at elite level for quite some time, he has boxed some big names out there and is nearly always competitve, sometimes surprisingly dominant. Malignaggi has one of the lowest knockout ratio’s of an elite level boxer i have ever known; but maybe because of this, he also extremely underrated. Malignaggi has untold ring smarts, and is extremely shrewd defensively. Malignaggi can also take a big shot or two, which always helps.

Porter will need to close off the ring against Malignaggi to have his best success, but Malignaggi has an excellent knack of making a fight his own and if he can keep Porter on the outside and pick him off, he may be able to look very good bagging rounds this weekend.

While i may be wrong i get the sense Porter’s style may suit Malignaggi, Porter is about physical strength, aggression and high volume and while he does have some other good attributes, Malignaggi has seen them all.

I am going for Malignaggi to frustrate Porter and get the decision, it is likely it will be close but i figure Malignaggi can pick off Porter and bank enough rounds early, Porter may begin to close the gap later on but Malignaggi’s calm demeanour will see him through.

Pinnacle have Malignaggi 11/5 any method which looks good to me, i like to play with Pinnacle on outright plays because i am also covered on the draw should it happen.
