Sergey Kovalev Vs Bernard Hopkins

Preview, Prediction and Betting Tip.

The WBA, IBF and WBO light heavyweight world titles will be on the line as Sergey ‘The Krusher’ Kovalev faces the ever green alien Bernard Hopkins. This is a fight that has certainly captured the imagination of the boxing faithful. A boxing icon Vs one of the most dangerous punchers in the sport.

Hopkins at 49 years will look to extend his own record as boxing’s oldest world champion and if he wins this weekend, I for one will regard it as one of the great accomplishments in the sport that would sit up there with some of the truly heroic moments this sport has offered over the decades.

Hopkins a brilliant technician who is an expert of controlling range and making a fighter fight at his pace, even at nearly 50 his conditioning is good and over the years Hopkins has displayed a great chin and knows how to survive, dirty if he needs to. This is evident in the fact that in 63 fights against an array of elite opposition, no one has ever stopped the wily veteran.

I think that is about to change this weekend, Hopkins who is usually a master match maker for himself has just bitten off more than he can chew in Sergey Kovalev. Kovalev is technically underrated, he is strong, patient and smart with his offensive attacks, and for me will become the first man to stop Bernard Hopkins this weekend.

Hopkins will likely frustrate Kovalev early and I expect him to have his moments, but Kovalev will begin to impose himself as the fight progresses and I think he finally gets to Hopkins around the 8th round.

Prediction: Sergey Kovalev by TKO 8

Boxing Tipster’s Bet: £25 on Kovalev by KO/TKO Evens Betfair.
