Ricky Burns Vs Terence Crawford – Fight preview and betting recommendation

Ricky Burns Vs Terence Crawford

Fight preview and betting recommendation

Ricky Burns makes his 8th defence of a WBO World title as he puts his lightweight title on the line against highly rated and stand out amateur Terence Crawford.

Crawford is highly anticipated to be a big star on boxing’s world stage after a glittering amateur career which saw him win many notable titles on the amateur scene, defeating the likes of Danny Garcia, Mikey Garcia and Carlos Molina on route.

Crawford is a highly skilled technical boxer, he is quite reserved in his work opting for a more clinical and accurate approach, his superior skillset so far has enabled him to negotiate his professional career with relative ease to date, However his best win so far is likely Briedis Prescott, so in that sense Ricky Burns is a significant step up for Crawford.

Ricky Burns is a boxer – brawler type fighter who likes to mix it up, he has been underestimated throughout his career and has shown himself to have a heart of a lion and a grit and determination worthy of his champion status. Burns will not be letting his title go without a scrap that is sure.

Burns has struggled in his last two fights, he was losing on the scorecards to the skilled Jose Gonzalez before Gonzalez retired at the end of the 9th citing a wrist injury, then Burns got a gift draw against Raymundo Beltran in his last fight, however Ricky fought through the pain barrier with a broken jaw from the second round onwards.

Giving those last two performances its no wonder Ricky Burns is odds on to lose his title to Terence Crawford this Saturday, I have took a hard look at Crawford for this fight and its clear he is a notch above Burns in terms of skill set and boxing attribute.

However his reserved style could cause him issues in this fight as Ricky has an excellent engine and adopts a very high output, he could take Crawford to a place he is very uncomfortable with in this fight, and i think it happens.

Burns also has underrated power illusive of what his record suggests, Burns seems to carrying more pop in the last couple of years than ive ever seen him before, he certainly has enough to keep Crawford respectful and hurt Crawford in this fight.

Burns is the underdog at 12/5 and in Glasgow with an army of 10,000 fans and  given the fact Ricky has experience on the side – also given the fact Crawford fights outside the US for the first time, i see value in Ricky Burns this Saturday night.

Burns has heart and we haven’t really seen Crawford taken down that dark road yet, how deep can he dig to win a world title, one thing i fancy is for Ricky Burns to make him answer those questions this Saturday in what i predict will be a closer fight than many.

Pinnacle best price on Burns at 12/5 and i do like making plays with Pinnacle and Bet365 on outright plays as you are covered for the refund in the event a draw occurs, i am keeping this one a modest stake as there is now doubt Crawford is talented but i expect another warrior performance from Burns this weekend.
