Richard Abril Vs Sharif Bogere – 2nd March Boxnation

Location – Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, The Joint, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

WBA World lightweight title

Cuban Richard Abril returns in his first bout since getting robbed against Brandon Rios nearly 12 months ago, a night in which he appeared to catch Rios weight drained and in poor condition and took full advantage, and as most people watching the fight will know, he clearly won.

Abril has a fairly awkward style to deal with and he is not the easiest of opponents to tag, he has real fluent movement and good reflexes, however he doesnt focus on offense as much as perhaps he should when looking to score points and win rounds, you see although Abrils slick defensive skills and boxing in general is one to admire for the purist i do not believe it will win him a round when theres a marginal one up for grabs,

Now Bogere is a different Kettle of fish the Ugandan has an exciting busy busy style of fighting and i feel this could be the difference when rounds are close and up for grabs, the judges could get swayed by the higher work rate and energy of Bogere, also Bogere is being backed by GBP, and as we know this always tends to help fighters.

This is a real close fight to call and i believe it will be extremely close, Bogere i feel is taking his first real test tonight against Abril but i feel with his high energy and work rate he can pass it, and he can nick rounds in this fight and at 5/2 i believe he is definitely worth backing here.

It will probably be fairly tight on the scorecards this one so i would look to cover the draw.

ATR’s Bet – £50 on Bogere 5/2 at Boylesports, £5 on the draw 28/1 Sky Bet
