PRIZEFIGHTER – LIGHTWEIGHTS III

Previews and Betting Tips

This Saturday night brings the return of Prizefighter and the third edition of the lightweights. 8 fighters 7 fights, who will be crowned Prizefighter champion this weekend?

We landed a 20/1 shot in Johnny Coyle last time around, can we pick the winner out this time?

Here is your lowdown of each fighter and our recommended bets for this weekends Prizefighter Lightweights III.

Quarter Final Draw

Craig Whyatt Vs Lee Martin
Michael Devine Vs Cassius Conner
Stephen Foster Vs Jono Carroll
Gary Buckland Vs Floyd Moore

GARY BUCKLAND – Clear favourite to win Prizefighter at 5/2 and it is no wonder why. Buckland has fought at the highest level domestically, a British champion and former Prizefighter winner at super featherweight four years ago. He beat this weekends second favourite Stephen Foster by stoppage two years ago. His experience and exciting style make him the man to overcome this weekend. However at 5/2 and with the history of upsets in Prizefighter I am not sure there is enough value for me. Has a tough Quarter Final draw against Floyd Moore

STEPHEN FOSTER – Former European super featherweight champion and experienced. Stephen Foster at 9/2 could be argued as a decent play, however I am not sure his style suits the Prizefighter format and he doesn’t have the experience of a Prizefighter competition behind him like others in the competition do. He goes up against an unknown quantity in Jono Carroll. I prefer others.

CASSIUS CONNER – Finalist in last years light-welterweight Prizefighter, losing out to a very talented Chris Jenkins. Has recently moved down in weight and actually fought his quarter finalist opponent Michael Devine 3 months ago but the fight ended a technical draw after Conner suffered a cut. Although a modest domestic record Conner can fight, is tough with a bags of heart, He should get past Devine and I can see him in with a great chance of winning this.

FLOYD MOORE – Has struggled in some fights domestically that he perhaps shouldn’t be struggling with. But Moore is potentially the biggest puncher in the competition and will be an extremely dangerous opponent for anyone this weekend. At 24 he is still learning and should be highly motivated for this one. If he can get past Buckland he is in with an excellent chance of winning this. 10/1 is a great value bet in my opinion.

MICHAEL DEVINE – Domestic record looks good on paper with 11 wins and just 1 loss but Devine hasn’t really fought anyone of note in his career to date and will be taking a step up in level in a fast paced format. Anyone can win Prizefighter but there are other bets i prefer to Devine this weekend. I think he has a tough quarter final draw against Cassius Conner.

BEST PRICE 10/1 BETVICTOR >> http://bit.ly/atr25

LEE MARTIN – Early on his professional career with just 7 bouts to his name, lost by TKO to 9-15 fighter Ian Bailey in his last outing in March. Has a winnable quarter final fight against Craig Whyatt but even if he gets through Whyatt I can’t see him beating others is the competition to go on and win it. Not for me.

BEST PRICE 12/1 BET365 >> http://bit.ly/BoxingOffer

JONO CARROLL – Only 3 fights into his professional career, at 22 he looks like he has a lot still to learn. Was last out on the return of the mack card in Dublin last month, was losing to 6-0 fighter Declan Geraghty before Geraghty was controversially disqualified for illegal use of the head. Swings widely with an unrefined style, hard to gage how much power he possesses or how good he is, his style may suit prizefighter but Foster will be tough to get past in the quarter finals which such little experience. Big ask.

BEST PRICE 14/1 SKY BET >> http://bit.ly/free£20boxing

CRAIG WHYATT – Big step up for the 7-2 25 year old, Last outing was a TKO loss to Jamie Speight for a southern area featherweight title. Lost to 7-166 fighter Kristian Laight earlier this year also. Has been active but moving up to lightweight for this and it would in my opinion be one of the biggest shocks Prizefighter has ever served up if Whyatt was to win this.
