Other Weekend Betting Tips

Thurman Vs Bundu & Ortiz Vs Perez

With so much boxing taking place this weekend there are a lot of betting opportunities and with time short here are the last 2 fights I will be betting on this weekend in one blog.

Keith Thurman Vs Leornard Bundu

Thurman is a rising star in the welterweight division, undefeated with 21 whacks from 23 wins. He has an exciting style and looks destined for big things, he is yet to face anyone who has really tested him to date. He will face Bundu who UK fans will know a lot about from wins over Lee Purdy and Frankie Gavin.

Bundu is 40 years old, but he isn’t a shop worn 40 year old having only begun his career very late at 31 years old, he is also undefeated and European champion. Bundu while not a knockout artist is very well chiselled and conditioned, strong and slick.

This pick is going to be controversial but I don’t think this fight is as easy for Thurman as some imagine and I think Bundu can trouble him. 8/1 for me is worth a shot on a guy like Bundu who is underrated and under the radar somewhat.

I still think Thurman will win this probably by late stoppage but not before he is giving a rough ride along the way I am going to gofor  a stab at value and straddle Thurman points at 5/2 with Bundu to win outright at 8/1.

Prediction: Thurman TKO 10

Boxing Tipster’s bet: £10 Thurman points 5/2 Sky Bet, £5 on Bundu to win 8/1 Bet365

Victor Ortiz Vs Manuel Perez

Ortiz looks to build his career following inactivity and 3 defeats in a row since 2011, he will go up against light hitting Manuel Perez. Perez is a 22-10-1 fighter with only 4 knockouts to his name,  he is usually beaten by top opposition but he is tough and usually competitive with respectable opposition.

I don’t believe Ortiz has the heart or desire for this game any more, picking a light hitting opponent is wise considering the outcome of his last fight against Luis Collazo. However Perez is still no mug and I think he can still be competitive or even beat Ortiz this weekend, albeit it will most likely have to be via hard fought decision.

This is controversial and a long shot at 9/1 but I think it’s worth a stab considering Ortiz seemed to lack any sense or meaning in his last outing, he should still have enough to get over on Perez, but if it gets tough in there don’t expect Ortiz to dig deep because I don’t there is much to find down there any more.

Prediction: Perez SD

Boxing Tipster’s Bet: £10 on Perez 8/1 Bet365
