Martin Murray Vs Domenico Spada

Preview, Prediction and Betting Tip.

Martin Murray looks to move himself into contention for world title shots with a win over tough Italian Domenico Spada, should Murray win a potential fight with Gennady Golovkin in 2015 could be made.

Spada is a 34 year old veteran with a 44 fight record and 5 defeats, while he has his limitations he is experienced, tough and has been competitive with respectable opposition, some may best remember him in a relatively close fight with Darren Barker 3 years ago.

He has just one stoppage defeat and that was to big hitting Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio earlier this year.

Murray is very unfortunate not to be a world champion, he has been on the end of two home town decisions against both Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez in 2011 and 2013 and in recent fights he has looked a little off key, but by his own omission he has lacked motivation to get up for the lower level fights.

Well he shouldn’t have any problems getting himself up for this one, with his new South African promotional outfit backing, on a decent event in Monte Carlo and big fights awaiting in 2015 – he needs to shine.

This has a Murray decision win written all over it and the bookies agree with a very low price of 4/9 for him to win by decision and to be honest I am struggling to see any potential bets that represent value in this market.

Murray isn’t a devastating puncher but I think he will feel like he needs to shine with a marker being set down by Golovkin’s most recent victim Marco Antonio Rubio who stopped Spada in the 10th round earlier this year, this should motivate Murray to look to get Spada out of there.

I am going to have a small nibble on the 5/2 offered up by Paddy Power on Murray by KO/TKO, I can’t say I am massively confident though.

Boxing Tipster’s Bet: £10 on Martin Murray by KO/TKO 5/2 Paddy Power
