Lamont Peterson Vs Edgar Santana – Preview, prediction and betting recommendation

Lamont Peterson Vs Edgar Santana

Preview, prediction and betting recommendation

Lamont Peterson defends his IBF light welterweight title against Puerto Rican Edgar Santana who may not be well known to many casual fans but he gets a shot at a world title against Peterson who has now held the belt controversially some may add for 3 years.

Santana does have some ability and was actually highly touted as he was moving up the ranks but was arrested in 2008 for drug trafficking and served four months in prison, bad timing as he had just scored his best win to date against Josesito Lopez.

Peterson has some slick boxing skills and fights well on the outside but can also mix it up well on the inside, he is also a decent puncher and should have too much for Santana on the night, however he is prone to slow starts and it can take a while for him to get his engine going.

The only way I see Santana winning this is if he catches Peterson early with something devastating, but Peterson is crafty and experienced, while its always possible in boxing it is probably unlikely.

I think Peterson is more talented than his opponent in pretty much every area here but that is not to say Santana is a pushover, because he is not he has competed at a decent level and is experienced in the fight game.

Again little value to be had really, this is a fight that could go the distance Peterson is 8/11 to find the stoppage and 13/8 on points its difficult to really choose however I expect Peterson to get his man out of there at some point.

Ladbrokes have 5/2 that he does just that between rounds 7-12 and considering he is notoriously a slow starter I am going take the 5/2 at Ladbrokes for Peterson to stop Santana in rounds 7-12.

If Peterson and Garcia both win this weekend don’t be surprised to see a unification bout down the line between the pair.

Boxing Tipster’s bet: £20 on Peterson rounds 7-12 5/2 Ladbrokes
