Kell Brook Vs Jo Jo Dan – Preview and Prediction

Kell Brook Vs Jo Jo Dan

Preview and Prediction

Kell Brook returns from his horrific injury to make his first defence of his IBF world welterweight title as he takes on mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan this weekend.

After beating Shawn Porter and fulfilling a dream of becoming a world champion in the ring, shortly after Brook had to face adversity outside of it after being stabbed in the leg whilst on holiday in Tenerife.

Brook suffered a horrific 12 inch stab wound which nearly ended his career but has shown the true grit of a champion to get himself fighting fit once again, he will take on his mandatory challenger with an eye on a bigger fight in the summer.

Brook came in as a notable underdog against Shawn Porter but answered all the questions to prove he belongs at world level with the top welterweights in the world.

Brook has one of the best jabs in the business, is physically strong at the weight and packs power with dangerous timing and precision, he would be a problem for most fighters at 147. The only question mark is, after all Brook has been through, will he be mentally and physically ready this weekend.

I believe the answer will be yes, and if he is Jo Jo Dan will find himself a few levels below Brook come Saturday night.

Ionut Dan Ion, AKA Jo Jo Dan is a Romanian fighting out of Canada, he has some good wins on his record most notably against Steve Forbes and Kevin Bizier but he doesn’t have any victories of real note and Kell Brook should prove a big step up in class.

Dan will offer Brook a contrast in style to Porter and looks like he could be an awkward customer, he moves well and will look to pot shot from the outside, the good news for Brook is Dan is hittable and with Brooks power that may be all he needs.

Dan is experienced on the road and probably won’t be daunted by the occasion, however I get the feeling he needs to show something he hasn’t before if he is to become a world champion this weekend.

Unless Brook is carrying some sort of physical or mental baggage unbeknown he shouldn’t have any problems in making a successful first defence of his title, I don’t believe Dan has the defensive qualities to handle the precision and power of Brook and will find himself outclassed in all avenues this weekend.

Don’t be surprised if Brook needs to warm into this one after the journey he has had to take to be here, but I think he may just get that luxury with Dan, I am expecting Brook to have Dan significantly hurt by the middle rounds, enough to take away any heart he had for the fight, Brook should finish shortly after.

Brook is 4/6 to get the stoppage but I prefer the 11/10 at Sky Bet for the fight to go under 9 rounds.
