Juan Carlos Burgos Vs Roman Martinez – 19th January (approx 3am UK time) Boxnation

Location – Madison Square Garden, New York USA

WBO Super featherweight title

This is a really good match up and should be a good fight, Martinez in a really tough and solid Puerto Rican who won the vacant WBO super feather weight title against young and extremely talented Miguel Beltran, personally i fought he lost that fight however he did show heart and appeared to comeback from some real flush punches landed from Beltran, the concern was how Beltran was able to land at will at times in that fight and i think Martinez maybe showed signs of decline, and i think this is perhaps one battle too far.

He is in against a real technician in Burgos who has fluent movement and i believe the superior overall ability to Martinez. Burgos one defeat came to very capable Hozumi Hasegawa but i believe he has improved since then scoring very decent wins against Luis Cruz, Cristobal Cruz and Cesar Vazquez all very high end fighters. Martinez only defeat came to the one and only Ricky Burns however it wasn’t plain sailing for Ricky who suffered a bad knock down in round one but was able to then outbox Martinez for most of the remaining fight.

Although Burgos and Burns are different fighters i think they have some common tools in the box and i see Burgos providing he doesn’t get tagged with some incredible fight changing shot, will be able to outbox Martinez and get the decision.

It appears many agree and Burgos odds have been shortening and he is as small as 4/7 at some bookmakers, however he is still 8/11 at Ladbrokes i would look at jumping on that price fairly quick before its gone.

ATR’s Bet – £75 on Burgos any method 8/11 at Ladbrokes
