Jones Vs Rose, Ormond Vs Flanagan and Prizefighter The Middleweights
Preview, Predictions and Betting tips.
Brian Rose Vs Carson Jones
Brian Rose looks to continue his rebuild after a failed world title attempt 8 months ago against WBO light middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade, he returned 4 months later with a 1st round stoppage of a modest Ignacio Lucero Fraga and will now face Carson Jones for the WBC international super welterweight title.
Rose while a light hitter is a tidy technical boxer he began boxing at the age of 9 and had a good amateur career winning national championships and since turning professional has a clean sweep of British titles including a lonsdale belt outright.
Carson Jones has been in tough from an early age and could carry a fair bit of wear and tear for a 28 year old, 51 career fights has seen him in some tough battles, he was due to fight in the new format big knockout boxing but announced his retirement shortly before.
This could be a case of Carson Jones coming over for a payday with no ambition, if that is the case I expect him to get his head boxed off for 12 rounds, dominated and possibly even stopped in the later rounds via accumulation.
However it could be a case that Jones is recharged and recommitted after some reflection on his career, he looked in good shape on the scales, if Jones is in a good place then Rose will be in trouble for me.
Jones is a relentless fighter with a dig and if he can take Rose into the trenches he will win the fight right there. I am backing Jones at 4’s this weekend I feel it is a reasonable price, yes its a big risk as I really don’t know what Jones I am backing.
PREDICTION: JONES TKO10
BETTING TIP: £20 Carson Jones 4/1 Bet365, £5 Rose by KO/TKO 4/1 Betway
Stephen Ormond Vs Terry Flanagan
Stephen Ormond and Terry Flanagan will battle it out on for the WBO European Lightweight title on boxnation this weekend, this is a clash that was due to happen last year but Ormond had to pull out due to illness, as a result he has not fought for nearly a year.
Flanagan has endured a frustrating time of it with two big domestic clashes against Ormond and then Scott Cardle cancelled in the last 6 months. Both Ormond and Flanagan are promising prospects in what is an exciting talent packed division in the UK.
This is a tough one to call I rate both fighters highly but I think the unbeaten Flanagan has an air of class about him and I expect him to remain unbeaten this weekend.
There isn’t really much value in Flanagan outright or by decision so I am going to back him by stoppage at 5/1, its a big ask, Flanagan is hardly a devastating puncher but he has the skills to pick an opponent apart when he switches up. However in all honesty I expect the fight to go the distance.
PREDICTION: FLANAGAN UD
BETTING TIP: £10 Flanagan by KO/TKO 5/1 PADDY POWER
Prizefighter – The Middleweights
Prizefighter returns this weekend and it can be a betting minefield at times, however there are two fighters that stand out for us as potential winners, one the second favourite Jack Arnfield 11/4 and as an outside bet Tom Doran 10/1.
BETTING TIP: £20 on Jack Arnfield 11/4 Boylesports and £10 on Doran 1o/1 Paddy Power.
