John Simpson Vs Choi Tseveenpurev – 11th May 2013

Emirates Arena, Glasgow Scotland

Simpson has had quite a rollercoaster of a career, he has 9 defeats to his name however has never really been defeated convincingly expect for perhaps Lee Selby and some may argue he is a little unlucky to have so many red crosses on his rec, he dropped a spilt decision and majority decision to the well respected Stephen Smith, he also lost a pick em type fights to Paul Appleby and Stephen Foster in what were losses of the finest margins, He also holds a very good win over Martin Lindsay.

Since his only stoppage loss to Lee Selby he seems to have recovered well and has since stopped Paul Appleby in a revenge match and blew out the very average Dai Davies and looked very sharp in doing so.

Choi has always been a little bit of a best, he punches very hard for a featherweight and has stopped 24 of his opponents in his 36 wins, while only has 6 defeats to his name and has never been stopped in a 17 year fight career, however at 41 you do wonder at which point does he grow old in the ring, in his last outing he fought for the IBO title and gave Daud Cino Yordan a competitive fight.

I have been swaying back and forth over this fight because the bookies had it priced up fairly even 4/6 Simpson vs 11/8 Choi and i believe this is a fairly 50/50 type fight in which i perhaps give slight edge to Simpson being the younger guy, However i think Choi can live with a guy like Simpson still and he has that power to change a fight.
Choi is just short of 17/10 at Pinnacle i think in a real 50/50 type fight i think to get a price heading towards the 2/1 mark we have to look at taking a bite at the cherry.

£5000 – £50 on Choi 17/10 at Pinnacle
