George Groves Vs Noe Tulio Gonzalez Alcoba – 25th May 2013

George Groves goes in against perhaps an opponent i feel is being slightly underrated in this fight in my opinion, of course i have always advocated that i believe Groves could be something special and that opinion has not changed.

However Alcoba is a decent puncher, he is experienced and and has one stoppage loss to Adonis Stevenson in which he got caught against the ropes and the stoppage looked a little premature from the referee, of course the same could happen here specially facing a skill set and power such as Groves.

However Alcoba is experienced he shows good movement, he can punch and has fought for a world title before in 2007 against felix sturm, only has second loss in 32 fight career in which he went the distance in.

I dont think this is a fight Groves will want to be wreckless in and he may find he needs to be patient against this guy, Alcoba can get caught a bit stunned and times when he gets caught with a shot and can be open to a flurry of combinations.

Groves can be had at 2/7 for the KO/TKO but i think theres some value for the fight to go longer than expected, Groves can be had at 9/2 for the decision and at 8/1 to win in rounds 10-12.

Obviously this is a high risk play so im keeping stakes small but i just dont get the impression Alcoba isnt just going to go in what is probably a last chance saloon type fight for him.

ATR’s BET – £20 on Groves by decision 9/2 Stan James and £5 on 8/1 Groves round 10-12 Bet365

(obviously adjust stakes according to bankroll this is based on my bankroll of £5000)
