Gennady Golovkin Vs David Lemieux – Preview and Prediction

In one of the most highly anticipated match ups of the year Gennady Golovkin and David Lemiuex will bring the big guns out in a middleweight unification fight that has all the ingredients to be one of the most explosive fights of the year.

Golokins spots a 91% Knockout ratio while his opponent Lemieux an 86% knockout ratio, It is safe to say no one expects this fight to go the distance as two of the biggest punchers in the sport collide.

Golovkin has slowly but surely risen to superstar status within the sport, with Mayweather now gone everyone is looking at ‘Triple G’ as being the man to fill that slot, however there are still question marks that remain, Golovkin is yet to really face and beat elite opposition to confirm what many believe in, that Golovkin is possibly the best fighter on the planet right now.

Golovkin may not be to blame for that, it is well regarded that he is the most avoided man in the sport and on the surface is seemingly ready to fight anyone, whatever the case or outcome, David Lemieux deserves a massive amount of credit in stepping up to the plate to face him.

Not only is Golovkin a murderous puncher he is technically brilliant, and offensively an assassin who cuts of the ring like no other, he has so many more tools in his armory than his opponent Lemieux this weekend, coupled with that, to date he has shown an extremely solid chin.

Lemieux while a top tier middleweight doesn’t have what Golovkin has, he is dangerous man with his quick, explosive and powerful combinations, however his defence has many holes, and technically he just isn’t on the same level has ‘Triple G’.

Lemieux is a 10/1 shot at some books this weekend, I would say that is perhaps a little harsh on the man, I mean it wouldn’t surprise me if Golovkin has to climb off the canvass to win this one, even in defeat I have a feeling Lemieux may still come out of this with his stock raised.

Ultimately though I think Lemieux is in too deep here and Golovkin will outclass his man and force a stoppage somewhere around the middle rounds. Sky Bet have under 7 rounds at 4/5 that looks a solid play to me.
