Gennady Golovkin Vs Curtis Stevens – 2nd November 2013

Location – Madison Square Garden Theater, New York, New York, USA

WBA World middleweight title
International Boxing Organization middleweight title

Golovkin is quickly gaining a reputation for being one of the biggest punchers in the sport, this guy currently spots an 89% KO percentage and is currently staring down at his 15th straight stoppage victory. 20 of his 27 opponents have not seen the 6th round.

Not only does Golovkin bring incredible power he also is an excellent technician who is ring smart and who will quickly figure out an opponents weakness and pick them apart in quick time.

Stevens also is a very powerful puncher and has a reputation of being a chin tester and early in is career was being touted as something really special, and he will most certainly be dangerous while he is upright, however while he has KO power he does not have the technical ability of Golovkin and punches wide at times.

Unless Golovkin is caught by something spectacular early i don’t see him having any issues in this fight and i can see him picking Stevens apart from about round 3 , because while Stevens may try to box early on he can be found in the ring, either flat footed or against the ropes, and we know in that situation Golovkin is able to finish.

Betting on this fight isn’t easy because Golovkin is 1/9 and 1/4 for the KO so unless your backing Stevens your not getting enough to make a play, however there’s a bet i have found that i like quite alot and i think it has a good chance at a good enough price.

Boylesports have the fight to go under 5.5 rounds at 5/6, this means if the fight ends before the halfway point in the 6th we are on to a winner, and i can certainly see this fight ending in the earlier rounds.

ATR’s Bet – £50 on under 5.5 rounds.
