Gavin Rees vs Gary Buckland – Preview, Prediction and betting recommendation

Gavin Rees vs Gary Buckland

A rematch of an epic encounter of an all welsh affair in February of this year that saw Rees and Buckland go to war, in the first fight i had Rees winning by 3 rounds and thought he got jolted on the cards, but that is just my opinion and how i saw it, i know there are others who saw it differently.

Either way we are set for a real treat if the second fight is anything like the first, In his heyday Gavin Rees held the WBA World Light Welterweight title, a title held by both Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana, so he has achieved at world level.

However Rees is now coming to the end of his career and states he will officially retire following this last showdown with Buckland, he has lost 3 in a row now however with the exception of his defeat to Adrien Broner who could consider himself a little unlucky for that to be the case as his last two fights with Anthony Crolla and Buckland could have gone the other way.

Buckland has been successful on the domestic scene winning the British super featherweight title and beating some solid opposition, however i still feel if he was meeting a Gavin Rees in his prime this would be a stretch too far for Buckland.

However he is meeting a guy at the back end of his career in Rees and as a result this now becomes a more even match up, at least going by there first fight and the bookmakers odds. Buckland is in from 2/1 from the first fight to odds on marginal favourite at 4/5 at most books. Rees can now by had at 5/4- 13/10.

I think it will be close again but i still feel Rees won the first fight, and while you could easily be forgiven for thinking Rees is cashing out on a very sellable fight here to add to the pension, i believe Rees is a proud man and will want to end his career on a high and as such will have prepared properly and will give 100%.

If he has done i still believe he is a notch in class on Buckland and should win this fight if he performs to his ability, these are all if’s but at a decent price of 5/4 (pinnacle sportsbook) for him to just win the fight i think i am prepared to take a chance here.

You can get 13/10 at Paddy Power and William Hill but i am just going to take the 5/4 on offer with Pinnacle as i then don’t need to go through the hassle of covering the draw.
