Gavin Rees Vs Gary Buckland

Fight preview and boxing betting recommendation

This encounter between two Welshman, in Wales has all the makings of a classic encounter, both men are coming off the back of stock damaging losses. Rees dropped a narrow decision to Anthony Crolla whilst Buckland was on the end of a Stephen Smith uppercut, which was quite frankly brutal and a knockout that had people concerned ringside.

A loss for Rees this weekend could inevitably send him into retirement, he was expected to beat Crolla and this is now a must win fight for him and the stakes are high in Wales this weekend as both fighters look to get their careers back on track.

Rees a former WBA World Light welterweight title holder has good natural boxing skills, he likes to fight with his hands dropped low and uses movement and technique to bring smart pressure, generally he fights offensively but also has the option to fight off the back foot.

Buckland is game, whilst he isnt a huge puncher with just 9 stoppages in 30 fights he fights on the front foot and brings lots of pressure, i can see these two meeting in the middle on Saturday night with the crowd behind them and having a bit of a slugfest for periods.

However even though theres the risk Rees my be coming to end of his career i still favour Rees, i just think he has more options and tools in this fight and i expect him to outclass Buckland this weekend, Rees is just another level to Buckland in my opinion.

I think by the later rounds the class will be paramount and Rees will be on the cusp of a stoppage victory and will end things between the 7th – 9th round, Bet365 have a Rees KO/TKO win at a super generous price at 11/4 (other bookmakers are offering only 2/1) i say snap that price up as it offers huge value.

Boxing Tipster’s bet – £40 on Rees By KO/TKO 11/4 Bet365
