Frankie Gavin Vs Bradley Skeete

Preview, Prediction and Betting Tip

Frankie Gavin and Bradley Skeete will battle it out for the British and Vacant Commonwealth welterweight titles in what is an action packed night of British Boxing.

Frankie Gavin an excellent amateur and gold medal winner at the world amateur boxing championships has yet to fulfil his potential as a professional and earlier this year suffered his first defeat to Leonard Bundu for the European welterweight title.

Bradley Skeete also a good amateur winning titles and representing Great Britain around the globe, boxing since the age of 7 Skeete has a very good boxing brain, and if Gavin does underestimate Skeete he could be in for a surprise.

Gavin fights from an awkward southpaw stance and looks to counter punch and set traps, he is very good defensively and if he really applied himself he is certainly capable of fighting at world level for me.

Skeete is a very defensive minded fighter that will keep a fight long with his solid jab and cautious approach, Skeete will also look to counter opponents.

The question I have asked myself is do I believe Skeete is capable of moving on to world level? In my opinion I dont think he is and that is the difference for me in this fight, Gavin is and should be a level above Skeete.

That is not to say Skeete can’t win this fight because as we already know Gavin has performed well below expectations in his professional career and I have called his commitment into question in the past.

But for me the only way Skeete should be winning this fight is if Gavin looks past him and has not dedicated himself in camp. But as I have just stated those things are real possibilities with Gavin.

I expect Gavin to win a decision here, but at 8/11 I wont be touching it at that price. Gavin is 4/1 down at Bet365 to get a stoppage and while I am not sure it will be that kind of fight if Gavin turns up and shows us all the talent he has this weekend it is certainly a possibility he can force a stoppage.

4/1 is a more than reasonable price to play with.

Prediction: Gavin UD

Boxing Tipster’s Bet: £10 on Frankie Gavin by KO/TKO 4/1 Bet365
