Eddie Chambers Vs Thabiso Mchunu – 3rd August 2013

Location – Connecticut, USA

Chambers drops down from heavyweight to fight a top 10 South African cruiserweight in Mchunu , this could prove tricky as i have always said  in many cases fighters who are moving weight give away advantage to the fighters who are staying around usual fighting weight.

In my opinion Chambers didn’t look all that tidy at the weigh in and i see this as a fight that could go wrong for him as Mchunu looks like a tricky customer, he is young, fresh, hungry and will most certainly be game with a point to prove.

Chambers was unquestionably an excellent heavyweight, he has a very good defence and is quick with the trigger, however he can be a sucker for a lack of work rate at times. His 3 losses to date have come against top level heavyweights in Wladimir Klitschko, Tomasz Adamek and Alexander Povetkin, take away those losses and he has dealt with everything else in a 39 fight career to date.

Mchunu at 24 is still learning however he looks to be fairly explosive offensively, shows good speed, intensity and movement coming forward, he also looks to be the puncher of the two.

I think this bout has the potential for an upset as Chambers may just be on the slide after a brutal KO loss to Wladimir and then there is the drop down in weight after fighting for 10 years as a heavyweight, coupled with the fact Mchunu is a top cruiserweight and can be had as big as 4/1.

For me at those odds win, lose or even draw perhaps, from what i have seen from Mchunu to date it is a no brainer as the value in the bet makes perfect sense.
