Derry Mathews Vs Tommy Coyle – 13th July 2013

Preview and Betting Tip

Location – Craven Park Stadium, Hull, Yorkshire, United Kingdom

vacant Commonwealth (British Empire) lightweight title

The bookies have this as a real pick em fight with Mathews priced at 10/11 and Coyle at 5/4, this surprises me given the fact Mathews has fought at a much higher level, however he does have 8 losses on a 42 fight record and there is sometimes an inconsistency with Mathews along with a vulnerability.

However an in form Mathews should win this fight, if Mathews comes in the ring with purpose tonight i see it no other way, he has the experience, is probably the better boxer of the two and carries more pop than his opponent.

Tommy Coyle is a tough cookie and could be one for the future, his only lost comes in Prizefighter to the very capable Gary Sykes and to date he has never been stopped in 16 professional fights, Mathews may do well to get rid of Coyle inside the distance and he would be foolish to underestimate his opponent tonight.

While i expect a competitive fight i think this fight may have come a little too early for Coyle however if Coyle pulls it off it wouldn’t be the biggest shock, however for me the value lies in Derry Mathews.

ATR’s Bet – £50 on Mathews any method 10/11 Boylesports followed by £3 to cover the draw at 25/1 also at Boylesports
