Dereck Chisora Vs Edmund Gerber – 21st September 2013

Copper Box Arena, Hackney Wick, London UK

Vacant EBU (European) Heavyweight title
Chisora looks to claim the European belt at his second attempt and will face a relatively unknown German fighter in Edmund Gerber.

Chisora hasn’t always been the most consistent of fighters and his commitment and dedication to his training has been called into question more than once, i remember him coming in as a flabby 261 pounder to fight Tyson Fury 2 years ago, however i finally feel he is treating things more seriously these days and a more sensible 235 Ibs Chisora is in this one.

Gerber, while unknown due to fighting relatively soft opposition does have some ability though and he also has the height and reach to cause Chisora food for thought. He isn’t the biggest punching heavyweight but technically he is a capable fighter and perhaps he is being a tad underestimated.

Chisora was being out boxed by then undefeated American Malik Scott, another fighter who had been feeding off soft opposition, however Chisora aggression and power managed to turn the fight in his favour and i see perhaps a similar fight panning out in this one in the sense Gerber could start brightly but Chisora will eventually begin to close the gap and overwhekm Gerber with his power and aggression.

Ladbrokes have Chisora to win in rounds 7-12 at 5/2 this could be worth a small play in my book.
