Darren Hamilton vs Curtis Woodhouse – Fight preview and betting recommendation

Darren Hamilton Vs Curtis Woodhouse

Fight preview and betting recommendation.

Hamilton makes his third defense of his British light welterweight title, a win against Woodhouse will see him keep the belt outright which adds that little extra motivation and purpose for Hamilton.

Woodhouse has previously held an English title but this is his first at a British title after failing against Derry Mathews in a commonwealth title bout last year, Woodhouse an ex pro footballer turned pro boxer, is tough and will be the bigger puncher in the fight.

Hamilton has an awkward, deceptive type style, he is very adaptable – boxing well of the back foot or pressuring opponents as a fight progresses. Hamilton has looked really classy in the last couple of years and perhaps is beyond domestic level now.

While i give Woodhouse a punchers chance i really see Hamilton as a level above Woodhouse and ready to move on to better things, I think Hamilton should have enough skillset to negotiate Woodhouse.

The dilemma for me is whether Hamilton gets the decision or the stoppage, statistics suggest if Hamilton wins it will be by decision, however while Hamilton is not a big puncher he may be in a situation where he is landing at will at times in this fight and finds a stoppage via accumulation, also he outed a tough Peter McDonagh and not many can hold that on their resume.

However i think Woodhouse is tough enough and if Hamilton is to win it will most likely be a points, Woodhouse is back up to light welterweight which will be a positive factor, at lightweight he looked ill to be frank.

My play for this fight will be a straddle – Hamilton by decision 11/8 alongside Woodhouse by KO/TKO 17/2 (both bet365) however a modest play for me in terms of stake.
