Daniel Geale v Anthony Mundine – 30th January

Location – Sydney, Australia

IBF Middleweight Title

This is a rematch of the 2009 bout which Mundine won via a split decision, since then both have gone in different directions Geale is on the up and in my opinion is the improved fighter, whilst Mundine looks to be on the decline and is aging.

I see this as Geales fight to lose if he keeps a similar pace like the one he set in the sturm fight, Geale although not a big puncher lets his hands go with speed and sets a high work rate, he comes forward in droves but keeps his guard tight and is intelligent with his offensive attacks.

Mundine was better when he fought at super middle since dropping in weight and fighting at middle he doesnt look quite as fluent for me.

You cant rule Mundine out completely but for me i feel this isnt about whether Geale wins but its how he wins it and i think a stoppage is possible for Geale but Mundine is an experienced customer and with this being such a big fight down under i think his pride will take him the distance and when things get tough his experience will see him through.

You can get 5/6 on a Geale decision and 5/2 on a Geale stoppage, and i have been swaying back on forth between the two but i really the more sensible play is the 5/6 on a Geale decision, should be a good fight anyway.

ATR’s Bet – £60 on Geale by decision 5/6 Ladbrokes
