Chris Eubank Jr Vs Gary O’Sullivan – Preview and Prediction

After all the twitter beef over the years I expected this fight to be really hyped with an epic build up. Well, it hasn’t happened the build-up has been pretty tame and Spike particularly has had little to say in person to Eubank Jr. Although we did get a kiss at the weigh in. Anyway, none of that really matters when they get in the ring Saturday night.

In reality I think Eubank will box smart in the early rounds as Spike tries to close the gap with little success. This fight should be as easy as Eubank wants to make it. If he decides he wants to go in close and exchange, he gives Spike a chance to show how real his power is and even a chance to win rounds if he can land often enough.

Eubank has the speed and footwork advantage though and if he uses this, which I expect he will with someone like Adam Booth in his corner. He will box at range, now and then move in for some quick counter combinations. Maybe he will take some more risks later in the fight if Spike begins to tire.

I think the bookies have got this wrong; Eubank clearly has power but not one punch concussive power. Spike O’Sullivan is a tough customer and unless he takes a lot of punishment I can’t see a stoppage.

Eubank to outclass the Irishman and cruise to a points decision is the likely outcome, maybe a few exciting rounds along the way where they decide to go toe to toe.
