Chris Arreola Vs Seth Mitchell – 7th September 2013

California, USA

This could be regarded as somewhat a cross roads fight, with both fighters at contrasting points in their careers.

Chris Arreola has had a decent enough career and is a resilient fighter who has only ever been stopped by elite level Vitali Klitschko and has beaten a range of capable opposition in 38 fight career which has seen only 3 defeats.

However he looked badly faded in his last fight with Bermane Stiverne and was beaten up badly by Stiverne who i am sure went into that fight as a 5/1 outsider, it was a surprise to most who expected Arreola to handle a guy like Stiverne, Arreola had not fought in over a year and it showed as he looked out of shape and out of sorts.

Mitchell was banging out one after the other until he stepped up a level and into the ring with Jonathan Banks and his punch resistance and chin looked to be exploited badly, people felt all the questions had been answered and Mitchell was suspect rather than prospect.

However Mitchell to his credit got straight back in with banks and appeared to learn a lesson from that fight and was more patient and despite a few hairy moments yet again, boxed comfortable to a decision victory.

Obviously there is no question Mitchell is buzzed far too easily and that may be his downfall here as Arreola is tough, can take shots and deliver them, so i guess people figure that’s that then. However i think Mitchell may be fighting Arreola at the right time and the cross roads can be crossed.

If Mitchell can box early and avoid getting into a trade off the fight may go his way more as it progresses, as an ex football player and a highly dedicated sportsman his stamina level from what i can see is excellent and he hits with enough power to certainly keep Arreola honest, i certainly see how the fight could go his way if he executes the right game plan.

And if Arreola is fading like i believe he is i think Mitchell is in with a shot here and there are a few bets i like in this fight.
