Billy Joe Saunders Vs Emanuele Blandamura

Preview, prediction and betting recommendation

Billy Joe Saunders will face Italian Emanuele Blandamura for the vacant EBU Middleweight title, a win for Saunders will also put him in prime position for a shot at WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin.

Blandamura is fighting out side of his home country for only the second time in his career, he recorded a career best win against Austrian Marcos Nadar in his last fight in Germany,  but the truth is Blandamura record of opposition has been modest at best.

However he remains unbeaten and brings some tools to the table he has fast hands, and throws combinations in bunches and keeps a steady work rate. He likes to stay on the front foot whenever the opportunity arises but there are defensive weaknesses for Saunders to exploit. Blandamura only has 5 stoppage wins in 22 wins so he is not a power puncher and Billy Joe may be able to take risks.

Saunders himself has fast hands and he will be the superior boxer and the more skillful man this weekend, Saunders is an exceptional talent and should be able to exploit the weaknesses in Blandamura, when Blandamura comes forward and throws there are plenty of gaps for Saunders and I expect him to capitalise.

I have questioned Saunders power in the past, I think he lacks that one punch power that could prove costly as he moves up levels, however this weekend I am backing him to notch a stoppage win on his record as I think he will be able to land big and often against the Italian.

William Hill have the fight to go under 10.5 rounds at 9/4 and I think it is worth a play at that price.
