Andy Lee Vs Matt Korobov

Preview, Prediction and Betting Tip

Andy Lee and Matt Korobov will battle it out for the vacant WBO World Middleweight Title as both look to become world champions for the first time in their careers, In Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend.

Korobov had a decorated amateur career winning various amateur titles, including world amateur championships in 2005 and 2007. His amateur record was impressive with only 10 losses from 311 contests beating the likes of Sergey Kovalev and representing his country at the Olympics in 2008.

So far his professional career has been pretty flawless and he looks a very awkward southpaw puzzle to solve, good movement and boxing ability coupled with enough pop to get him by.

Andy Lee also a credible amateur representing Ireland in the 2004 Olympics and winning Bronze and Silver medals at the EU and European amateur championships in 2004. Lee again is a very good technical southpaw, and Lee as shown in his last fight against John Jackson has power to turn a fight on it’s head even when all the chips seem down, if he lands a big one this weekend it may be all he needs to become world champion.

However Lee has looked out of sorts in a few fights since his last world title shot against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a fight he lost by TKO in the 7th. He has struggled against modest opposition and was being set upon by John Jackson before he found a quality shot from seemingly nowhere.

Korobov looks to me like the more complete fighter, he is the more skilled guy for me and I expect him to be able pick Lee apart this weekend and claim his first world title by a stoppage win.

The reason I have got this prediction and tip out early is I have noticed Paddy Power have a Korobov KO/TKO win at 2/1 which seems slightly off from the rest of the market and the price is sure to drop as the weekend nears closer. I think 2/1 is great value and I am getting on this one early.

Prediction: Korobov TKO8

Boxing Tipster’s Bet: £25 on Korobov by KO/TKO 2/1 Paddy Power
