Alexander Povetkin Vs Carlos Takam

(Inc. Chakhkiev Vs Fragomeni)

Preview, Prediction and Betting Tip

Former WBA World Heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin takes on Cameroon Carlos Takam in Moscow this Friday night. This has the makings of a tasty Heavyweight fight.

Carlos Takam is coming off the back of a dominating win against crafty veteran Tony Thompson, a bout in which he looked well chiselled and impressive. Povetkin is also coming off the back of an impressive stoppage win against Manuel Charr, Povetkin dominated Charr inside before dispatching him in the 7th round.

I think this could turn into a bit of a slugfest fought mainly on the inside, Takam likes to come forward and put his head on his opponents chest and let his hands go and mixes up his punches well, However Povetkin is not afraid to oblige in the pocket either, he possesses some very crafty punches on the inside, he couldn’t miss Charr with inside uppercuts in his last fight. Both men are hittable but tough and possess good chins.

Takam is a vastly improved heavyweight that has come along way since losing to a modest Gregory Tony in 2009 and I think he gives Povetkin a very competitive fight here but in Moscow he is up against it. A close fight would surely go to the Russian.

I also think Povetkin may slightly outclass the Cameroon in exchanges, I think Povetkin takes this around 115-113-116-112 in a competitive and entertaining bout. Povetkin is best priced to win by decision at 5/6 I dont really like that price if I am to be honest especially in Heavyweight boxing when all it takes is one punch.

However I am happy to slip it in a double with Rakhim Chakhkiev who I think wins convincingly against Giacobe Fragomeni, The Olympic gold medallist Chakhkiev should have far too many tools for the diminished Fragomeni and I think he can win early doors inside 6.

I am going to make a small play on Povetkin by decision and Chakhkiev to win in rounds 1-6 at 7/2 down at Paddy Power.

Boxing Tipster’s Bet: £10 on Povetkin by decision and Chakhkiev to win in rounds 1-6 7/2 Paddy Power
