31st January – Sky Sports Undercard – Predictions & Betting Tips.

We kick start 2015 with two 50/50 domestic dust ups between John Wayne Hibbert Vs Tyler Goodjohn and Ricky Boylan Vs Tommy Martin, also John Ryder looks to progress further with a win against Argentinian Billi Godoy.

Here is our prediction and betting tips for each three bouts.

John Ryder Vs Billi Godoy

Ryder defends his WBO inter-continental middleweight title against Argentinian Billy Godoy, This will be Godoy’s first venture outside of Argentina for nearly 7 years.

However Godoy is an active fighter with plenty of experience behind him, He holds a win over Matthew Macklin 2014 conqueror  Jorge Sebastian Heiland in 2012 before being stopped in the 12th by the same man a year later.

Godoy is a patient boxer and will be aggressive in spurts, when he does come forward he really lets his hands go, his combinations can seem a little wreckless and wild but he throws with intent.

Since running Billy Joes Saunders a close fight we haven’t really seen Ryder in with anyone that is really going to test him again, and I don’t think Billi Godoy is going to be that man either, Ryder should be too slick and superior for the Argentinian this weekend.

I think Ryder may get a stoppage here, if he draws the Argentinian inside there’s plenty of gaps for Ryder to exploit during exchanges, however I also think this is a fight that could easily go the distance, if the Argentinian is allowed to fight on the outside he doesn’t give to much away and it could be a fight that just never sets a light.

Paddy Power have a Ryder decision at 9/4 I think it offers some value but I will be playing small stakes on this one.

BETTING TIP – £10 on John Ryder by decision 9/4 Paddy Power

John Wayne Hibbert Vs Tyler Goodjohn

This could be a great little domestic dust up, Goodjohn is coming in off the back of a good majority decision win against Ricky Boylan and is looking good under trainer Peter Sims. Goodjohn was actually released by Peter’s brother Tony Sims after Tony felt he couldn’t take Goodjohn to championship level.

Goodjohn has now secured the English title with a very tidy boxing display against Ricky Boylan last October, Goodjohn looked very good that night and showed elusive skills, good boxing IQ and discipline to box to a game plan.

Hibbert is coming in on a 4 knock out winning streak and appears supremely confident, the 30 years old has 2 defeats on his record a loss in a 2011 prizefighter series to Kevin McIntyre and a close loss to now commonwealth champion Dave Ryan.

This is a tough fight to call, Hibbert has the edge in power but I think the 23 year old Goodjohn is improving fast under Peter Sims and after his impressive display against Boylan I think he is worth backing in this one at 11/10, but it really is a close, however if you back the 11/10 at Bet365 you are covered if its a draw and will get a refund.

BETTING TIP: £20 on Tyler Goodjohn to win 11/10 Bet365

Tommy Martin Vs Ricky Boylan

Another 50/50 domestic dust up sees Ricky Boylan Vs Tommy Martin, Boylan is coming in off his first professional loss to Tyler Goodjohn while Martin is currently unbeaten in his first 10 professional fights, however Boylan should prove a step up in level for the 20 year old.

Boylan was outsmarted at times in his fight with Goodjohn but he showed plenty of grit and determination and I still think there is plenty of raw talent there that just needs to be refined, It could be another very close contest but I feel this could be a little too soon for Martin.

I am backing Boylan at evens at Betvictor, but it is was to just cover the draw with a tickle in this 10 rounder.

BETTING TIP: £20 on Ricky Boylan evens Betvictor, £2 on the draw 20/1 Betfair.
